Planning and Zoning Board

About

An advisory board to the Board of Commissioners that conducts studies of the area within its jurisdiction and surrounding areas; determines objectives to be sought in the development of the study area; prepares/adopts plans for achieving these objectives; develops/recommends policies, ordinances, administrative procedures, and other means for carrying out plans in a coordinated, efficient manner, advises the Board of Commissioners concerning the use and amendment of means for carrying out plans; exercises any functions in the administrative and enforcement of various means for carrying out plans that the Board of Commissioners may direct; performs any other related duties that the Board of Commissioners may direct and reviews/comments on proposed zoning text and/or map amendments.

The Planning Board consists of 7 members, 5 of which are bonafide residents of the Town of Swansboro and 2 which are bonafide residents of the “Area of Extraterritorial Jurisdiction”, ETJ.

Meeting Schedule: 1st Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM
