Historic District
Nestled in the confluence of the White Oak River and the Intracoastal Waterway, this beautiful waterfront village offers visitors an unhurried journey through time. The Swansboro Historic District incorporates most of the historic center of this small port town and includes historic residential and commercial structures. Walk along along the roads where both patriots and pirates once laid down footprints and explore the unique architecture of this historic fishing village. The district includes 123 resources, mostly residential and commercial in character. One and two-story frame dwellings and commercial buildings dating to the period 1890-1925 represent the majority of contributing properties in the district, with a scattering of earlier buildings.
