Tim Vannoy

Tim Vannoy began his career in public service by joining the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 1994. He relocated to Onslow County in 1995 and has resided in Swansboro since 2009. During his 21 years in the Marine Corps, Mr. Vannoy served as a Communications Chief, stationed at Camp Lejeune and Okinawa, Japan. His responsibilities included overseeing policies, laws, and regulations related to personnel, administration, and budgets. He also deployed to Indonesia, Mongolia, and Afghanistan twice (2010 and 2012) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He retired from the USMC in 2015.

Since 2016, Mr. Vannoy has worked as a Civil Servant in roles including Telecommunications Specialist and Engineering Technician. In these capacities, he collaborates with Navy Facilities Command (NAVFAC), government engineers, and contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and base orders for various installations. His work involves reviewing, analyzing, and resolving issues to assess progress and address challenges in projects related to Military Construction (MILCON), Facilities Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM), and demolitions.

In addition to his professional career, Mr. Vannoy has been actively involved in local governance, serving on the Planning Board for two years before being elected as Commissioner.

Mr. Vannoy has been married to Tonya Vannoy, a fellow Marine Corps veteran, for 29 years, and together they have two children.
