Commissioner
Douglas Eckendorf
Local government is the one level that affects so much of our lives and I have been serving my country and community all my adult life both in the military and now as an instructor aboard the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. I have lived in the area more than 35 years and in Swansboro for the past 13 years. I am honored that the voters of Swansboro have entrusted me to be one of five commissioners for the next few years.
Served as a U.S. Marine from 1983-2008. Since 2008, I have trained USMC warriors of all occupational specialties to operate computer systems and technology in the art and science of command and control. Solving problems and exercising leadership in adverse and challenging environments are the components that shaped my view on liberty and love for our Constitution.
A member of Saint Mildred’s Catholic Church and Second-degree Knight of Columbus through the Swansboro council, have served as coordinator of numerous fundraising efforts for five years with the Knights Annual Golf Tournament Charity and am involved with Least Among My Brethren (LAMB), a charity for mentally and emotionally challenged students in the Swansboro area schools.
